Excellent point! The walkability of it, is what is perhaps one of the most appealing parts.

We had listed Newport as one our 'dreamspots' last PCS season. Alas, we didn't get it.

We LOVE Newport! We love how walkable it is, the food, the people, even the weather.

Island syndrome sets in pretty quickly, so it's nice that we can find most everything we need without having to cross a bridge.

Of course, that means ordering a lot of stuff from Amazon, too :)

If I vote for Obama, I'll be banking on the likelihood that universal healthcare would never get off the ground. It seems too complicated for a country as large as the United States. The nice thing about democracy is that it's nice and slow.

I too also voted for W (twice), and feel like he's really f*'d things up. I'm no McCain fan, nor do I like the borrow-spending policies of the Republicans. (China will own us in a manner of years.) However, I had to seriously think about voting the other way: universal healthcare? OMG. Have you actually used military facilities for your healthcare? Can you imagine if everyone got that level of care? There would be geriatric rioting in the streets. Too much government, and that's change I don't want!

It was kind of crazy when I realized that there were days when I 'worked' for a grand total of 2 hours. Unless you count surfing the InterWeb as work, which you sort of can, if you're a Writer who's doing Research. (Nance, you can totally justify that as a Filmmaker.)

John, I'm going to do my best to heed your warning! I do not want the Year of Bliss to turn into the Year of Getting Hopelessly Behind on Our Goals, Further Sapping Motivation and Preventing Us from Enjoying Ourselves Because of the Ever-Looming Threat of Unfinished Work.

Beware! This is where our Year of Bliss turned into our Year of Getting Hopelessly Behind on Our Goals, Further Sapping Motivation and Preventing Us from Enjoying Ourselves Because of the Ever-Looming Threat of Unfinished Work.

Despite the ominous title, it's still better than DH School, so savor it.
