How Does He Do It?

How is that Sean always seems to be able to sense just when I’ve finished making a pot of coffee and have sat down with a book or the computer, picking that moment to wake up from his nap?

Or, maybe, the question should be, How is it that I always manage to fritter away the afternoon doing unuseful things (like making another pot of coffee in the press, which feels oh so useful but really probably is not)?

So it’s only a two hour nap today. Danielle and Kate are already at the beach, and now Sean and I are heading in that direction. Kate says it’s the best beach water she’s ever been in. And we lived in Florida for four years.

I have never been in the water at the beach here. We’ve lived here in Newport for three years. Come to think of it, I’ve never actually been to the beach during the summer months before, at all. This is shaping up to be quite the occasion.

  • I completely understand what you are saying, 18 month olds are so good at interrupting me time! But then again, if I managed my time better, I would have plenty of me time… My daughter Hannah was born Feb. 11, how about your guy? I wish I could get her to take a two hour nap, I usually only get an hour out of her, and of course no morning nap anymore either. I miss when she was nine months old and would sleep a couple hours in the morning and another couple in the afternoon. As to the beach thing, we have been here in Virginia Beach for two years and I have not been in the water at all or on the beach in the summer at all. I am not much of a sand lover, I preferred the rocky coast of Oregon to this. We bought a house last year with a pool so I get to hang out at home which suits me just fine as I don’t have to deal with the tourist crowds in the summer at the beach. Well, hope you had fun at the beach, I will actually get down to the beach doing a service project with my church during the Rock and Roll half marathon on Labor Day weekend, so we’ll see how I do dealing with sand and tourists
