		<description>Yeah. But I also just think this was an ill-fated business model. The &#039;big box&#039; retail strategy (i.e. achieve growth by opening more and more stores and squashing the competition) just won&#039;t work in the long run for books. The model is too dependent on bestsellers. Same goes for corporate publishing. I think we&#039;re heading back to a time when there are many small publishers. Eventually, everyone will self-publish because we&#039;ll deliver e-books via the Internets.</description>

Here in NYC, Barnes and Noble has been doing horribly in there last few quarters.
Having worked at Barnes and Noble once upon a time I remember the hay-day thinking the Riggio&#039;s were untouchable.
Now it seems like all of them are closing or close to closing. 
I credit that to sky high rental rates more so then anything else but the article you posted brings to the table another story.
I remember working there one day when some person asked me if we had any books on &quot;Intro to Sociology&quot; then I replied &quot;Ok, Introduction to Sociology let&#039;s see what we have&quot;.... To which the gentleman replied &quot;No, Intro to Sociology&quot; :/..
Point being nobody reads anymore :(</description>
