The Heat

August 6th, 2007 · No Comments

The other day, I stopped into a Starbucks to buy a cup of coffee. It was in the afternoon. It was hot. And I had a moment of nostalgia for the last two summers in Norfolk when I spent my summer afternoons sitting in the heat under umbrellas at wobbly tables at Starbucks tapping away at Lithium.

I would sit there and sweat and drink hot coffee (because I’m just not interested in iced) until the battery in my laptop was nearly dead. Then I’d go inside to the air conditioning and one of the comfy chairs and plug in. There were days I spent five hours there at Starbucks.

And sometimes I couldn’t write a single word.
