This article at The Independent tells us what we already know.
Writers don’t, on average, make very much money. In the UK, the top ten percent account for fifty percent of author earnings, apparently.
And, yet, people still write and will continue to write. If it’s about the money, do something else.

Hey, I just randomly found this site searching around for agent stuff. It’s a little exciting and, of course, daunting to find someone else who’s in the querying stage. Nevertheless, good luck! It sounds like things are going well for you so far, so I’d be encouraged. I know how you feel though. With this other thing I wrote a while ago, I got a request for a partial then a full from a pretty big agent. She shot me down on the full and I remember I literally got lost walking around in my neighborhood I was so let down. But I wrote another and feel it’s better. So, what’s the quote? What does not kill you will make you stronger? Good luck, keep going strong!

Thanks for the encouragement, Phil. Best of luck to you and your querying, too!
